My daughter Melody, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes four years ago. At just 10 years old, she has learned to endure what most adults would find difficult to do. Just imagine having to make yourself stick a needle into your finger to test your blood sugar levels. Melody does this on average of ten, yes ten, times a day. Two years ago, Melody was given a relief from her daily insulin injections by being placed on an insulin pump. While it makes day to day life a little easier for her, she still has to be continuously attached to it at all times.
Melody has kept her spirits high. She can test her own blood sugar, draw a syringe of insulin, and even give herself a shot. We have met many adults who can’t even look at a needle without cringing. Even though it is amazing what she can do for only being 10 years old, it breaks our heart watching our little girl have to go through this every day. She will never have a remission and she will never outgrow it.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF, is gearing up for its annual fundraising “Walk for the Cure.” Melody’s Marchers will once again join forces with the JDRF to walk in support of finding a cure. Melody and I would love for everyone to walk and support us and try to have over 100 walkers and raise $10,000.
Melody’s Marchers is looking for corporate sponsorships to help alleviate the cost of the team t-shirts and mailing campaign. Our goal is to have at least 100 family and friends walking on our team. Most of the walkers will be from the Schertz and Cibolo area. We will acknowledge each sponsor on the back of each t-shirt and also on Melody’s Marchers web site: www.melodysmarchers.org.
Thank you for joining us in this battle by becoming a corporate sponsor for our team.
